Say hello to Benz, co-owner of Mr. Buncha! Their recently opened Thai eatery and boba/bubble tea bar in Sunnyside, Queens, offers delicious baobuns, rice bowls, salads, and drinks. Below, Benz shares a little bit more about the team and the small business.
Mr. Buncha is located at 45-09 40th Street, Sunnyside, Queens, NY 11104 and is open from 10:30am to 9pm daily.
Tell us more about yourself, your team, and Mr. Buncha.
Our team comprises of a few friends from Sunnyside. Mr. Buncha is a combination of two words. “Bun” meaning bread or bun and “Cha” which means tea in Thai.
What was the inspiration behind Mr. Buncha and your menu?
The inspiration behind Mr. Buncha is simple, we wanted to start a business around products we were enthusiastic about. Food and drinks were a no-brainer. Everyone loves good food and drinks, and we wanted to bring quality beverages and food to our neighborhood for everyone to gather around and enjoy.

Our menu was carefully thought out and crafted with quality in mind. Quality over quantity was important for us. For example, our Matcha is Imported from Japan, and some of our teas are imported from Taiwan and Thailand. Ingredients for our Rice Bowls, Salads, and Baos are sourced from the local markets throughout Sunnyside.
What are your personal favorites at Mr. Buncha?
Lol. Everything on the menu. We took time to think about each item we put on our menus. We spent nights perfecting each drink and thinking about which ingredients would go well together. Each item holds a special place in our hearts.
How would you like to be supported as a small business?
So far, the support of the community has been amazing. We think authentic home-grown support is the best support. To see the people who were there during the opening come back, again and again, really keeps our team motivated.
Living in the digital age, we think it is important that our digital footprint showcases how awesome we are, we ask that those who like what we are doing leave reviews and comments detailing their love for our food/beverages and their experience at Mr. Buncha.
We’ve lived in various neighborhoods throughout NYC and Sunnyside is the best. That said, we want to become a staple in our community.
