A Local’s Guide to Date Night in Sunnyside
Who wants to go into Manhattan for a weeknight date? Not this Queens local. You can have a perfect date in Sunnyside instead, spend less for more and enjoy a great view of the city.
The Pre-Date
If you have some time before meeting your beau, there are so many ways to spend it. Browsing for a new book at the Sunnyside Thrift Shop is my go-to, or check out the jewelry and handbags sold by street vendors in Bliss Plaza. If you’re really looking to treat your date, pick up a nice bouquet from Flowers by Giorgie.

Dinner
If you’re looking for something no-frills and delicious, get falafel sandwiches from Mangal Kebab or share a bowl of noodles from Fuyu Ramen. For a more romantic atmosphere, visit Sotto le Stelle for wood-fired pizza or see if you can get a table at Riko Peruvian Cuisine - try the Pollo a la Brasa.

Dessert
What’s a dinner date without dessert? Stop by Bolivian Llama Party for homemade ice cream - you must try the Api purple corn ice cream, a spin on the traditional Bolivian Maiz Morado beverage. Buy it by the cone for your date, then go back for a pint. On a cold night, get fresh chocolate chip cookies from Chip City. On your way, be sure to look down 47th avenue at the sun setting beyond the Empire State Building - that’s why they call us Sunnyside!

Keep the Night Going
If the date is going well, why end it? Visit Maggie Mae’s Bar for their signature Prickly Pear Margarita, or have a Guinness in The Goat Bar's cozy backyard.

The Finale
Round off the night by gazing at the stars - or the lights of Manhattan, rather - from the 46th street 7 train platform. Maybe now is the time to stop by the flower stand on 47th? Wherever you end up, a date night in Sunnyside is sure to please. Enjoy!
